SEED PLANTER
Job Purpose
- Prepare the soil for planting by tilling, hoeing, or using other machinery.
- Plant and transplant seeds at appropriate depths and spaces.
- Ensure correct seed selection based on factors such as soil type, climate, and crop rotation.
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to protect the growth of seeds and young plants.
- Maintain equipment used in planting, such as seed drills and transplanters.
- Keep records of seed varieties planted, planting dates, and locations.
- Monitor and assess health of seeds and seedlings, taking corrective action as needed.
- Harvest seeds as required, ensuring they are stored under correct conditions.
- Collaborate with scientists or other professionals in research activities related to seed planting and growth
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Salary
- Salary: Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
- Pay Range: €24,500 minimum to €35,000 maximum
Responsibilities
- Prepare soil for planting, including tilling and fertilizing.
- Plant seeds at the correct depth and spacing.
- Ensure that seeds are supplied with adequate water and nutrients
- Monitor the health of growing plants and troubleshoot any potential issues
- Operate and maintain farming machinery such as planters, tractors and irrigation equipment
- Assist in harvesting crops when necessary
- Comply with all safety and sanitation regulations related to agricultural operations.
- Work in various weather conditions including heat and rain
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a similar role or in the agriculture industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of different types of seeds and their specific planting needs Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects
- Ability to operate and maintain farming machinery
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good hand-eye coordination
